We only recommend products and services we personally use and believe will add value to our readers. Our opinions are our own and are not influenced by affiliate partnerships.
What Are Affiliate Links?
An affiliate link is a special URL that tracks when someone clicks through and makes a purchase. When you use one of our affiliate links to buy a product or sign up for a service, the company pays us a small commission. You pay the same price whether you use our link or go directly to the company's website.
Where We Use Affiliate Links
You may encounter affiliate links in the following places:
- Blog posts — especially product reviews, comparisons, and tool roundups
- Resources page — our curated list of recommended tools and services
- Digital products — some of our PDFs and toolkits include links to recommended tools
- Newsletters — The Deal Sheet, The AI Edge, and other email newsletters
- Social media posts — when we recommend specific tools or services
- Online courses — when course content references specific tools
Our Recommendation Policy
We take our recommendations seriously. Here's how we decide what to recommend:
- We use it ourselves. If we haven't personally used a product, we say so explicitly. Most of our recommendations are tools we use daily in building Plot Twist Labs.
- We're honest about limitations. Every tool has trade-offs. We tell you what works well and what doesn't — even for products where we earn a commission.
- Affiliate status doesn't buy a recommendation. We have turned down affiliate partnerships with products we don't believe in. A commission isn't worth your trust.
- We include non-affiliate alternatives. Where relevant, we mention free or open-source alternatives even when they don't earn us anything.
How We Identify Affiliate Links
We mark affiliate links in the following ways:
- Blog posts include a disclosure statement at the top of the article
- The Resources page includes a disclosure statement at the top of the page
- Newsletters include a disclosure statement in the footer
- Product PDFs include a disclosure on any page with recommended tools
- Social media posts include #ad or #affiliate hashtags as required by the FTC
Affiliate Programs We Participate In
We participate in affiliate programs including (but not limited to): Amazon Associates, Jasper AI, Canva, NordVPN, DeleteMe, Bitwarden, QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Relay, Beehiiv, Kit (ConvertKit), Skool, Make.com, Grammarly, Teachable, Udemy, and others. The specific programs may change over time.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure is provided in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). The FTC requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections between endorsers and the products they recommend.
